What is the North Iowa Green Expo & Market?
A partnership between Healthy Harvest of North Iowa, Clear Lake Earth Day, and the Clear Lake Farmers Market, this event combines the popular annual Green Expo with the Farm Fresh Food Fest (formerly The Gathering) and serves as a kickoff to the farmers market season in North Iowa. Find us tomorrow, April 18th, inside the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake for this Green Expo & Farmers Market! Invite a friend and come on out to shop, taste, and learn while celebrating Earth Day and all things green in North Iowa.

This list only states what we know we’re bringing for sure (we say “for sure” with the assumption that nothing crazy will happen, like a mega storm, freak accident, or the Rapture 🤪). While writing this, we’re considering adding a couple more flavors of bread, and there is a slight potential we’ll have a couple more flavors of pie for this market. It all comes down to how much time we have; if the dough rises slowly, then this list is complete. We’ll have free samples
At our booth, we’ll be sampling our focaccia – probably just the Garlic Herb. We also know that the Healthy Harvest of North Iowa booth will have some sort of tomato-y food paired with our Sourdough baguettes. These won’t be the only samples at the event, just the ones featuring some of our products. You’ll have to come tomorrow to taste all the deliciousness!
Why our farm is considered “green”
Brown Family Farms is a homestead dedicated to providing delicious, wholesome foods for our local communities. All of the food we provide travels less than 50 miles from our farm to our customers, with a good chunk of that food travelling less than 15 miles. (Impressive compared to the estimate that the average meal in the United States travels about 1,500 miles to get from farm to plate.) The reduced carbon emissions in our sales process is wonderful, and we take it a step further by sourcing local ingredients as well (like the honey in our baked goods).
The food we offer is nutrient dense, grown without chemicals, and doesn’t contain unnecessary conditioners or preservatives, which can improve the health of those who eat it. This is a big win!

Come to learn about eco-friendly products and services, explore the Clear Lake Farmers Market, and take part in green education.
We’re excited to be part of this market! It’s going to be a taste of the regular farmer’s market season in Clear Lake (first official day is May 18th!), and we are bursting at the seams with the idea of seeing your beautiful face at the Surf Ballroom again this summer. You will be there, right?! 😄
