Jam Out at the Farmers Market! 9/7/2024

Now’s your chance to jam out at the farmers market!

As you wrap up another week, join us at the Clear Lake Farmers Market on September 7th, 2024 from 9:00 AM to NOON in the parking lot of the Surf Ballroom & Museum. If you’re still trying to savor every last drop of summer, come get a jar of our Peach Mango jam. When you visit, you’ll also be able to find a variety of local produce, flavorful jams (that’s us!), meat, handcrafted items, coffee, lemonade, and more will be available from 50+ vendors, along with live music and kids activities!

Here’s what we’re bringing*:

Breads

Scones

Pies

Jams/Jellies

Additional Food Items

*List subject to change

This list only states what we know we’re bringing for sure (we say “for sure” with the assumption that nothing crazy will happen, like a magically fixed mixer! 🤪) While writing this, we’re still figuring out what other pie flavors we’re bringing, and we might have even more flavor options of jam -if Shaun can find the time to squeeze them into his day. If you have any specific requests, call us! Our number is on our ‘Contact’ page.

No bread, just jam this week

Ok, so that’s not totally the case. Just mostly. If you noticed, there’s a big change in our list of what we’re bringing this week. We will not have our normal, giant selection of breads with us. We will have all our jams, and Maple Syrup, and scones. We’ll also have a few quick breads/breakfast breads. These are the type that don’t have any yeast added, and start as more of a batter than a dough. The reason is because of our mixer. Remember when we missed the market last month because our mixer broke? Well, the saga continues.

Unresolved mixer issues

We fixed the part that was obviously broken last time. There’s a shiny new planetary gear on our mixer. But, since that part’s been fixed, our mixer has been overheating whenever we prepare for a farmers market. After three weeks of that, Shaun finally had the time and the resources to take the mixer apart (again!) and see what was going on.

The new problem

Thankfully the part we just replaced is still good. The problem this time is that the brass worm gear that drives the transmission is stripped out. In other words, a very important part inside the mixer was turning into metal confetti. When Shaun took the mixer apart, the lubricating grease inside the mixer was full of shiny silvery glitter. I (Myla) was able to look at it and know it was bad – and I am not mechanically inclined.

We’re coming; thank Sandy

I’ll be honest: we considered not coming to the farmers market this week. It just doesn’t feel right to show up without our signature items. No sourdough?! Or focaccia!? It just feels like a crime. However, the last market we missed, so many of you showered your concern for our absence when we came back, that we didn’t want you to worry again! And the cincher? Last week, Sandy (one of our most wonderful customers) ordered a blueberry pie from us and asked us to bring it this week. We can’t disappoint her. So, if you’re thankful we’re coming this week, thank Sandy (and maybe pre-order a pie 😉).

Jam out with us at the farmers market this weekend!

Even if we do have a smaller selection of bread with us this week, we just want to remind you that we still have an awesome selection of jams and jellies available. And, we hope you’ll jam out with us at the Clear Lake Farmers Market this weekend. We’ll be in the Surf Ballroom parking lot from 9 AM until noon. The Clear Lake Farmers Market is the largest producer-only market (which means no resellers) in North Iowa and it’s definitely worth a stop.  Set up a reminder in a place you’ll see it, and we’ll see you there!

Bonus: here’s a link for an interactive map so you can find all your favorite vendors at the market this week: http://www.clearlakefarmersmarket.com/for-customers/ We can’t wait to see you Saturday!
