If you ever wished you could buy our bread in a store, this is it! We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of a new farm store, where you can find the finest local products Iowa has to offer! Mark your calendars for June 28-30 and come visit the Purple Ribbon General Store at 2960 James Ave., Britt, IA. Enjoy premium dry-aged beef, fresh produce, and a variety of locally-made goods (including ours!). Don’t miss out on free ground beef with every purchase, delicious tastings, and a chance to explore their beautiful farm.

This list states what we know we’re bringing for sure (we say “for sure” with the assumption that nothing crazy will happen, like an unexpected arrival of baby animals, spontaneous combustion, or a universal blip 🤪). This is everything we’re bringing. If all goes well, we’ll look at offering more items every week (like maybe cinnamon and caramel rolls!). If you have any specific requests, call us! About Purple Ribbon

You might be wondering who are these people we’ve partnered with. Purple Ribbon Beef is a multigenerational, family owned farm located north of Britt, Iowa. The Recknor family prides themselves on raising premium beef from birth to plate. They pay careful attention to every detail as they raise their beef because that is what makes the difference. They treat their animals with respect, and love supporting local, delicious, Iowa-made foods as much as we do.

This is the grand opening of the only store we’re partnered with

As you may know, we don’t have a retail store location of our own. Many folks have asked us over the years, and we’ve always felt a little bad having to say “no we don’t, sorry.” We hate disappointing our awesome customers! That’s why we’re so excited that one of our neighbors is opening a store featuring only locally made, Iowa products. Ashley Recknor and her family live and work within 5 miles of our homestead, and for the last two years their Purple Ribbon Beef booth was right next to our booth at the Clear Lake Farmers Market (we’re not next to them this year though because we moved spots).

Since we’re talking about moving spots…

A few more people found us at the Clear Lake Farmers Market last week for the first time since we moved! It’s fun to catch up with everyone over the summer. This is your friendly reminder that we’re in a new spot. Traditionally, our booth has been next to the sidewalk and near the music (the north-east side) -we aren’t in that spot anymore! Instead, you’ll find us on the other end of the market, at the far side, away from the music (the south side). If you need a map to visualize and see this change, there’s one linked at the end of this post. Note: Only our booth within the market is moving- the Clear Lake Farmers Market, this week and all season, is still in the Surf Ballroom parking lot.

There is some road construction

You know that summer in the midwest equals road construction. This is a heads-up that if you’re coming to the store (located at 2960 James Ave. Britt, IA) from Clear Lake, Mason City, or anywhere east of Britt, all of the bridges on Highway 18 are currently under construction. It’s not a big deal if you’re just driving a regular vehicle, but if you’re coming in your RV or something like that, you might want to consider a different route. One of the bridges has a narrow lane, and we don’t want anyone getting stuck in their big rig.

As long as you keep coming, we’ll keep bringing all the good stuff! So, you are coming, right?!😄

What better way to celebrate the weekend

We get it- it’s easy to fill your summer schedule and forget everything that’s happening this summer. But, don’t let that stop you from coming -it’s the perfect opportunity to buy that one special flavor you eyeball all the time, but never actually get. Like that decadent cinnamon swirl bread. Or that beautiful loaf of sourdough. Honestly, it’s remarkable the number of times we hear folks say “I might circle back around to get that,” and when they do come back to our booth at the farmers market, that item they wanted is gone. With the grand opening of this new store, now you can shop on your own schedule and still get the items you actually really wanted! 😄

We’re so excited to be in the swing of the farmers market season, and we’re ecstatic to announce the opening of this new retail store! We’ve partnered with our friends at Purple Ribbon Beef to offer our products in their retail space. Purple Ribbon General Store (located at 2960 James Ave. Britt, IA) has their grand opening weekend starting tomorrow, Friday June 28th. They’re open from 10 am-6pm starting this Friday, and everyone who makes a purchase gets a free pound of ground beef. Feel free to put this store’s grand opening in your calendar, and we’ll see you there!
